Top 12 Tattoo Shop Name Ideas From Real Founders

These are not names we invented for this page. Each one was generated in the LOGO.com name generator and then picked by a founder naming a real tattoo shop, piercing studio or body art business. The tattoo pool is shallow, with no name picked more than twice, so these are presented without a ranking.

What makes these 12 tattoo shop name ideas work for businesses

A tattoo shop name carries more weight than most. It has to look right in a window and on a forearm mockup, it has to sound safe enough for somebody getting their first piece and sharp enough for somebody on their fortieth, and it has to survive the shop adding a second artist with a completely different style. Here is what each of these twelve does, and how to borrow the move without borrowing the name.

Aura Ink Studio

One of only two names picked more than once in this data. Aura is a wellness word in a trade that usually reaches for danger, and that contrast is exactly why it works for an artist whose clients are getting their first piece. Steal the recipe: borrow a word from the industry your nervous clients already trust.

Luxe Tattoo

The other name picked twice. Two words, one of them a price signal, and no ambiguity at all about what happens inside. It filters the walk in asking for a twenty dollar star before they open the door. Steal the recipe: put the positioning first and the trade second, then let the portfolio prove it.

Artisan Ink

Artisan is a word borrowed from bakeries and workshops, and it does something useful in a trade the public still half associates with back rooms. It promises care, a portfolio and a waiting list. Ink ranks fourth of the nine most used words in tattoo name searches on LOGO.com, so artisan is the half doing the real work. Steal the recipe: borrow a respectability word from a craft people already pay a premium for.

Moca Inkworks

Works turns a shop into a workshop, promising craft and volume at the same time, and it makes a new business sound like it has been on that street for years. Steal the recipe: add works to a coined first word and the shop inherits a history it has not earned yet.

Chroma Skin

Chroma is the technical word for colour, and setting it against skin states the medium plainly. It is the most modern sounding name on this list and the best fit for a colour realism artist who wants to be judged on saturation. Steal the recipe: use the technical term for the thing you are genuinely best at.

Talisman Ink

A talisman is an object that protects you, which is close to what a lot of people quietly believe their first tattoo is. Ink ranks fourth of the nine most used words in tattoo name searches on LOGO.com, so talisman is the half doing all the work. Steal the recipe: name the reason people get tattooed rather than the act of tattooing.

Cat's Eye Tattoos

A specific image, an old superstition and the trade word on the end. It is the most searchable name on this list and by far the easiest to turn into a sign, a stamp and a sticker. Steal the recipe: pick one image an artist could ink in ten minutes and build the whole shop identity around it.

Ink Elixir

Elixir promises transformation, which is a far bigger claim than decoration and much closer to why people actually book. The alliteration keeps it light enough not to sound pompous. Steal the recipe: reach for a word that describes the effect rather than the process.

SkinSaga

A saga is a long story told in instalments, which is exactly how a sleeve gets built over several years and several appointments. Closing the gap makes it a brand and usually frees the domain. Steal the recipe: find the word that describes how the work accumulates rather than how it starts.

Shadow Ink

Shadow is a blackwork word, a mood word and a technique word all at once, so it tells a client what the portfolio looks like before they open it. Steal the recipe: pick a word that is simultaneously a style and a feeling, and you have written half your marketing.

Inferno Tattoo

Loud, hot and completely unambiguous, which suits a street shop taking walk ins far better than a private studio taking deposits. Steal the recipe: if you want volume rather than exclusivity, pick the loudest word you can still defend to your mother.

Prince of Ink

A title makes a claim that a plain noun cannot, and it works here because tattooing is one of the few trades where mastery is openly ranked and openly argued about. Steal the recipe: give yourself a title, then be good enough that nobody bothers to argue.

Every one of these came out of the same place, which is a short description of a real shop typed into the tattoo shop name generator. Describe yours and see what comes back.

The Top 9 Words Founders Use In Tattoo Shop Names

Shop

First of the nine most used words in tattoo name searches on LOGO.com, and the word this trade genuinely runs on. It sounds open, it sounds affordable, and it does not pretend the room is a gallery.

Studio

Second of the nine in searches, and yet as a business industry tattoo studio was chosen only 34 times on LOGO.com this past year against more than 1,000 for tattoo shop. Founders type studio while they are dreaming and pick shop when they commit.

Artist

Third of the nine. It puts a person at the centre rather than a premises, which is right for a single chair and wrong the moment you hire somebody.

Ink

Fourth of the nine, and the most overused word in the whole trade. It is short, it is flexible and it is very close to being invisible, so it needs a first word carrying real weight.

Piercing

Fifth of the nine. Saying it in the name doubles your walk in trade and commits you to a second skill set, a second set of supplies and a second licence.

Parlor

Sixth of the nine. It is the most old fashioned word here on purpose, and it is the right choice only if the shop leans traditional, because it fights a fine line portfolio badly.

Dark

Seventh of the nine, and the most used mood word in the set. It signals blackwork and heavy shading, so it will quietly turn away the client who wanted a small watercolour.

Fine Line

Eighth of the nine, and the fastest growing style in the trade. Putting it in the name is the clearest possible signal to the client who has been scrolling delicate script for a month.

Skin

The least used of the nine, which makes it the most available. It names the medium rather than the tool, and that small shift makes a shop sound like a studio without using the word.

Don't get stuck with a forgettable tattoo shop name

Your shop name goes on a window, a licence, an Instagram handle, a booking form and the aftercare card somebody keeps in a wallet for a week. It also gets said out loud by a nervous client explaining where they are going. Five things to check before you commit.

  1. Easy to Say

Almost every booking in this trade starts with a recommendation said out loud in a pub or a group chat. If the name needs spelling, the recommendation does not survive the journey.

  2. Easy to Remember

People research a tattoo for months before they book. A name somebody can find again after saving one photo and forgetting where it came from is worth more than a clever one they cannot.

  3. Easy to Search

Watch the word ink. It is the fourth most used word in tattoo name searches on LOGO.com and it also hides inside pink, link and think, so results built on it alone are noisier than they look. Anchor it to your city or your style.

  4. Easy to Own

Check the domain, the handles and your national trademark register, then check your local authority registration rules, because tattoo premises are licensed and the name on the licence should match the name on the window.

  5. Easy to Grow

Shops that start with one artist add a second chair, and shops that start with tattoos add piercing and cosmetic work. Naming yourself after one style is the fastest way to outgrow your own window.

500+ Tattoo Shop Name Ideas by Style and Shop Type

According to LOGO.com data, tattoo shop was chosen as a business industry more than 1,000 times between August 2025 and August 2026, while tattoo studio was chosen just 34 times. Founders in this trade say shop rather than studio by a margin of roughly thirty to one, even though studio is the word they type while they are still daydreaming. The list below is split by style and shop type, because a fine line artist and a traditional street shop want very different names.

Classic Tattoo Shop Names

Tattoo shop was chosen as a business industry more than 1,000 times on LOGO.com this past year, making it the phrase this trade actually runs on. Classic names put a word and the trade term together and trust the work in the window to do the selling.

Japanese and Irezumi Inspired Names

Serpent is one of the least used imagery words in business names on LOGO.com, well behind the obvious trade words, which leaves the whole visual vocabulary of this style wide open. Choose an image rather than a claim, because the tradition speaks for itself.

Tattoo and Piercing Shop Names

Piercing was chosen as part of a business industry more than 170 times on LOGO.com this past year. Saying it in the name doubles your walk in trade and commits you to a second skill set, a second set of supplies and usually a second licence.

Female Led and Soft Aesthetic Names

Founders picked 71 different names from tattoo searches on LOGO.com this past year and barely repeated themselves, which tells you this corner of the trade is still writing its own vocabulary. Soft aesthetic names benefit most from that, because none of the warm words are taken yet.

  • Soft Bloom Tattoo
  • Honey & Rose
  • The Sweet Room
  • Peachy Tattoo Studio
  • Rosewater Tattoo Studio
  • Her Hand Tattoo
  • Gentle Craft Studio

Gothic and Occult Names

Ink ranks fourth of the nine most used words in tattoo name searches on our generator and is the most overused word in the trade. Gothic names are the one place you can safely skip it entirely, because the imagery already tells people what you do.

  • The Veiled Hand
  • Omen Tattoo Studio
  • Hollow Moon Tattoo
  • Relic Tattoo Studio
  • Nocturne Tattoo Co
  • Moonwell Tattoo
  • Candlelit Tattoo Studio

Nature and Botanical Tattoo Names

Skin is the least used of the nine most common words in tattoo name searches on LOGO.com, which makes it the most available. Botanical shops pair it well, because naming the medium alongside a plant word sounds like craft rather than machinery.

  • Fern & Feather
  • Botanica Tattoo Studio
  • Wild Fern Tattoo

  • Meadow Tattoo Studio
  • Herbarium Tattoo Co

Cosmetic and Permanent Makeup Names

Permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing are chosen far less often as a business industry on LOGO.com than tattoo itself, which makes this the least crowded corner of the whole trade. Names here should sound closer to a beauty room than a tattoo shop, because that is where the client thinks she is going.

  • Brow & Beauty
  • Permanent Beauty Studio
  • The Brow Room
  • Powder Brow Studio
  • Lash & Line
  • Softly Brow Bar

Bold and Punny Tattoo Shop Names

Parlor ranks sixth of the nine most used words in tattoo name searches on our generator, and it is the most old fashioned word in the set. Puns live in the same register, so they work best on a traditional shop and fight a fine line portfolio badly.

How to name a tattoo shop, from the first flash sheet to the shop sign

Founders ran 384,606 name searches on LOGO.com in the past year and picked 87,853 names from what came back. Tattoo shop alone was chosen as a business industry more than 1,000 times, with tattoo terms overall passing 2,400. Here is what the founders who got it right did differently.

Start from the style, not from the needle

Everybody in this trade uses a needle, so the needle is not the differentiator. The shops with the best names started from the work. Fine line script for people getting their first piece, heavy blackwork for people on their fifth sleeve, Japanese for clients who will sit for twenty hours. Write one sentence describing the work you want to be booked for, then name that sentence. If your name would sit equally well over a delicate wrist tattoo and a full back piece, it is not helping anybody choose you.

The three name styles that actually work

The first is the image plus the trade word, like Cat's Eye Tattoos, which is the most searchable and the easiest to turn into a sign, a stamp and a sticker. The second is the mood word, like Shadow or Inferno, which tells a client what the portfolio looks like before they open it. The third is the reason word, like Talisman or Elixir, which names why people get tattooed rather than what you do to them, and it is the style that photographs best on a window. All three appear in the names founders actually pick on LOGO.com.

Test it on a window and in a group chat

Write the name as it would appear on the glass, then write it again as an Instagram handle, because in this trade the handle matters at least as much as the sign. Then say it out loud the way a client would recommend you in a group chat. Almost every booking starts as a spoken recommendation, so a name that needs spelling loses the client before they ever reach your page. Finally check how it looks next to your own artwork, since the name has to sit under a photograph without fighting it.

Lock it down, in the right order

The social handles first, because in tattooing the handle is the shopfront and it is the thing that goes fastest. Then the domain, then your national trademark register, then your local authority registration, since tattoo premises are licensed and the name on the licence should match the name on the window. Once all four clear, the logo maker and the slogan generator will finish the set, and the business name generator covers you if the shop grows into piercing and cosmetic work too.

Methodology. Figures in this article come from LOGO.com first party product data for the twelve months from August 2025 to August 2026, a window covering 384,606 name searches and 87,853 name selections. Industry figures count how many times a term was chosen as a business industry, which counts events rather than unique people. The nine word ranking is drawn from the 448 name searches containing the word tattoo, and is shown as a ranking rather than as percentages because the nine word base is too small to carry one safely. Wordmark counts are the number of logos created containing that word across the whole platform. Source: LOGO.com first party product data, August 2026.

"I have never attempted developing a logo or other marketing products, and am no expert at navigating new computer software. That being said, I not only found the software easy to navigate and learn, but the end product was more than I had hoped for. The help team at logo.com was highly responsive and willing to help with any questions I had in a clear and rapid manner. I am very pleased with the team at logo.com and the products I created. I highly recommend their service!"

"LOGO.com is an amazing resource. It helped me create a professional-looking logo for my business that received more praise than logos I've paid designers to create for me in the past. The site is very easy to use, walks you through every step, and gives you control over the entire creation process."
