What makes these 12 auto repair name ideas work for a repair shop

Every name below was generated on LOGO.com and picked by a real founder. Here is why each one earns its keep, and the pattern you can steal for your own shop.

QuickFix Auto

Speed plus the outcome plus the category, in three syllables and one closed compound. Repair appears in 775 business names founders created on LOGO.com this past year, so the word is well used and Quick is what makes this one stick. Steal the recipe: customers are not comparing your workmanship, they are comparing how long they will be without a car.

Auto Align

Alliteration on a vowel, which is rarer and softer than the usual hard consonant pairs in this trade. Align is also a real service you can charge for, so the name doubles as a menu item. Steal the recipe: naming one profitable job in the title tells the algorithm and the customer the same thing at once.

East End Motors

A place, then the trade word, which is the oldest garage naming formula there is and still the one people trust. Auto turns up in 2,253 business names created on LOGO.com once automatic is removed, so the category words are crowded and the place word is where you get distinctiveness for free. Steal the recipe: your side of town is a word no competitor across town can use.

Gearhead Garage

Written for the customer who enjoys cars rather than the one who resents needing you, and that is a real choice about which half of the market you want. Dyno appears in only 20 business names created on LOGO.com this past year, so the enthusiast vocabulary is almost untouched. Steal the recipe: if you want enthusiast work, use enthusiast language and accept that you will filter people out.

ApexAuto Mobile

Three parts and the last one is the whole business model. Mobile is the fastest growing shape in this trade because it removes the only genuinely painful part of the customer experience, which is being without a car for a day. Steal the recipe: if your model is different from the shop down the road, put the difference in the name rather than on the website.

Mega Torque Auto

Torque is a word only people who work on cars use with any comfort, and it sits in just 50 business names created on LOGO.com this past year. That makes it both rare and credible, which is an unusual combination. Steal the recipe: a technical word your customers half understand signals expertise without needing to be explained.

Revive Auto

A verb about bringing something back, aimed squarely at the customer with an older car they are not ready to give up on. It is warm in a trade that is usually cold. Steal the recipe: if you fix rather than replace, say so with a word that sounds like rescue.

GearUp Garage

The closed compound gives you a clean handle and the alliteration gives you a name that survives a noisy phone line. Gear up also means get ready, which is the right note for pre trip checks and seasonal work. Steal the recipe: a two word phrase that already exists in English is easier to remember than anything invented.

James's Vehicle Clinic

Clinic is the interesting word. It borrows the language of a profession people already trust with diagnosis, which is exactly the trust problem this trade has. Mechanic turns up in 175 business names created on LOGO.com once mechanical is stripped out, so the plain trade word is far rarer than you would expect. Steal the recipe: borrow the vocabulary of a profession customers already believe.

Driftline Autos

An invented compound that reads as motorsport without claiming to be a race team. Driftline is easy to register and impossible to confuse with the shop two miles away. Steal the recipe: welding two real words into one made up word is the cheapest way to own a domain outright.

MCJ Auto Garage

Initials, the category, the building. It is the least imaginative name in the twelve and it is also the one that looks most like a shop that has been there twenty years. Steal the recipe: initials are a legitimate choice when your surname is hard to spell, and they age extremely well.

Auto Forge

Forge carries heat, metal and craft in one syllable, and it moves the shop from a place things get fixed to a place things get made right. Engine appears in only 156 business names created on LOGO.com once engineer is stripped out, which tells you the mechanical vocabulary is much emptier than the automotive one. Steal the recipe: pick the workshop word rather than the vehicle word if you want to sound like a specialist.

Twelve names will never cover every kind of shop. Put your own services, your city or a word you like into the auto repair name generator above and you will have twenty more in a few seconds, each with a live domain check and a free logo preview.

The Top 9 Words Founders Use In Auto Repair Names

Mobile

Mobile is the runaway leader, appearing in 138 of the 481 name searches that mention mechanic without saying mechanical, which is nearly three in ten. These nine counts overlap, because one search can carry several of the words at once.

Auto

62 mentions. The shortest way to say vehicles without saying cars, and the one word almost every shop in this trade ends up using somewhere.

Shop

60 mentions. Shop says you have a building with bays, which is a real and useful distinction now that so many mechanics come to the driveway instead.

Car

53 mentions. Warmer and plainer than auto, and the word your customer actually uses when they call you.

Repair

44 mentions. Repair sets the expectation that you fix rather than sell, which keeps you clear of every dealership in the county.

Diesel

41 mentions, remarkably close to repair. Diesel work pays better and the customers are businesses, so naming for it is a pricing decision as much as a positioning one.

Service

40 mentions. The most neutral word available. It covers everything from an oil change to a rebuild and commits you to nothing.

Engine

29 mentions. It sounds like the hardest job you do, which is useful, though it can suggest you only want the big rebuilds.

Truck

23 mentions. Truck and diesel travel together, and together they point at fleet contracts rather than one off jobs from the street.

Don't get stuck with a forgettable auto repair name

Your name goes on the building, the invoice, the courtesy car, the tow truck driver's recommendation and the review a customer leaves at midnight. Make sure it checks these boxes.

  1. Easy to Say

Half of this work arrives as one driver telling another where to take a car. If the name is a mouthful, the recommendation becomes the place near the lights, and the place near the lights cannot be searched.

  2. Easy to Remember

A shop sign gets three seconds from a passing car and an invoice gets read once. Short, concrete words survive both. Clever spellings survive neither.

  3. Easy to Search

Customers read your reviews before they hand over a key. Avoid a name shared with a car wash, a detailing studio or a dealership in the same town, because your reviews will end up scattered across all of them.

  4. Easy to Own

Check the domain, the handles, your state registry, your repair shop license and the trademark register before you buy a sign. Our generator shows domain availability on every name it serves.

  5. Easy to Grow

A name built around one make or one job gets awkward the day you add diesel, hybrids, fleet contracts or a second bay. Pick something that survives your next lift.

500+ Auto Repair Shop Name Ideas by Service Type

According to LOGO.com data, auto repair was chosen as a business industry 3,724 times this past year. The full phrase is used here rather than the word auto on its own, deliberately, because auto on its own is mostly automation and automatic, which is software rather than a workshop. The lists below are grouped by the work founders actually take on, so find your main service first and borrow the patterns that fit.

Auto repair shop names

Automotive is the parent category and it is enormous, at 25,113 industry selections on LOGO.com this past year. That is the crowd your shop name has to stand out from, which is why the plainest names in this group lean on a place or a promise rather than the category word.

Fifteen lists is a lot of reading, and the shop you open next year will probably not be named by any of them on its own. Take the two or three lines that made you stop, feed them back into the auto repair shop name generator at the top of this page, and let it build out from there. Check the domain in the same step, because a name you cannot register is a name you will end up changing.

What makes LOGO.com the best Auto Repair Shop Name Generator

Built from real data

Every suggestion is shaped by the words founders actually chose for auto repair businesses on LOGO.com this past year.

Made for auto repair shops

Tell it you run a two bay garage or a mobile mechanic round and it names that, not a generic small business.

A fit score on every name

A quick score shows how well each name matches the shop you described, so you can skim instead of agonize.

Every name explains itself

Each option comes with a line on why it works, which is what you need when you try three of them out loud on a regular customer.

A tagline with every name

Every name arrives with a short line underneath it, ready for the sign above the bay door and the side of the courtesy car.

Style tags at a glance

Names are tagged plain, premium, family or modern, so you can see instantly whether one matches the work you want booked in.

20 names per round

One sentence about your shop gives you twenty options, enough to spot a direction without staring at a blank page.

More like this

Found one that nearly works? Ask for more in the same direction and the generator narrows in instead of starting over.

Favorites that follow you

Star the names you like and they stay in your list while you keep generating, so nothing good gets lost between rounds.

Compare mode

Put your shortlist side by side and read the names the way a driver comparing three quotes will.

Live domain availability

Every name is checked against real domains as it appears, so you never fall for one you cannot book.

Domain prices upfront

You see what the domain costs before you get attached to the name, not three screens later.

Instant logo previews

Each name comes with a logo already drawn, so you can tell in a second whether it works on a roller banner by the road.

See it on a website

Preview the name on a real homepage layout, booking button and all, before you commit to it.

See it on a business card

This trade still runs on cards left in a glovebox after a service, so check how the name sits on one.

See it on social

See the name as a profile and a post, which matters here because local groups are where a mechanic gets recommended.

Four naming styles

Switch between descriptive, invented, compound and evocative names depending on whether you want clarity or character.

A length slider

Slide from one short word to a full company name and watch how the shortlist changes shape.

An abstractness slider

Move from plain trade words to something invented, and stop wherever the names still sound like a real shop.

A tone slider

Push from workshop plain to premium and back, so the name matches the cars you want on the ramps.

Category control

Ask only for garage names, or only for mobile mechanic names, instead of sifting through a mixed list.

Free to use

Generate as many rounds as you want without paying anything or handing over a card.

A free logo included

Pick a name and you leave with a logo for it, which is the part most founders in this trade put off for months.

The whole brand in one place

Name, logo, domain and website sit in one account, so the shop is bookable the same week you name it.

How to name an auto repair shop, from your first bay to your third ramp

An auto repair name has to work above a bay door, on an invoice and in a neighbor's mouth. Most of this trade grows by one driver telling another who finally fixed the noise, which means the name has to survive being repeated by somebody who only heard it once. Founders ran 379,487 business name searches on our generator this past year and selected 86,614 of the names it served, and 442 of those searches named automotive outright. Here is what all that naming activity teaches about naming a shop of your own.

Name the work, not the whole industry

Write down what actually rolls onto your ramps before you write a single name. Tires and alignment is a different business from transmission rebuilds, and a mobile round is a different business again. The single clearest signal in our search data is mobile, and it is not close. If that is your model, put it in the name and let the shops with buildings keep the walk in trade. If you are a general garage that fixes whatever arrives, name the place and the promise instead, because a service word you outgrow in two years is worse than no service word at all.

Be careful with the word auto on its own

This is the naming trap unique to this trade, and it is why this page counts exact wording rather than every appearance of a word. Auto turns up in tens of thousands of searches on our platform, and a large share of them have nothing to do with vehicles, because auto is also the opening of automation and automatic. A shop called Auto something reads as a garage to a driver standing in front of it and as a software product to a search engine. Pair it with a word that can only mean vehicles, garage, motors, tire, diesel, and the ambiguity disappears in one step.

Test it in the wild before you commit

Say it out loud the way you would answer the phone with a compressor running, because that is where most first impressions in this trade get made. Tell a regular customer the name and ask them a week later what it was. Print it at sign size and look at it from across the road, since a good share of your walk in work reads the name at forty miles an hour. If a name only works written down, it will not work here.

Lock it down, then build the brand around it

Check the domain first, because it is the fastest proof a name is genuinely ownable, and our business name generator shows availability live on every option it serves. Then clear your state business registry, your repair shop registration or license, the federal trademark database and the handles on the platforms your customers use. When the name clears, register the domain, claim the handles, and put the logo maker to work on your bay signage, your shirts and your invoices. If you want a line for the website header, the slogan generator is free too.

Methodology: data in this article comes from anonymized, aggregated LOGO.com product usage between 7 September 2025 and 7 September 2026, covering industry selections, business name searches and finished logo wordmarks. Counts are of exact wording within those fields, so a word that also sits inside a longer unrelated term is measured on its own rather than by every appearance.

"I have never attempted developing a logo or other marketing products, and am no expert at navigating new computer software. That being said, I not only found the software easy to navigate and learn, but the end product was more than I had hoped for. The help team at logo.com was highly responsive and willing to help with any questions I had in a clear and rapid manner. I am very pleased with the team at logo.com and the products I created. I highly recommend their service!"

"LOGO.com is an amazing resource. It helped me create a professional-looking logo for my business that received more praise than logos I've paid designers to create for me in the past. The site is very easy to use, walks you through every step, and gives you control over the entire creation process."
