What makes these 12 clothing brand name ideas work for businesses

Every name below was generated on LOGO.com and picked by a real founder. Here is why each one earns its keep, and the pattern you can steal for your own label.

Fashion Forward

The most selected clothing name on our generator this past year. It works because it says the promise out loud and nobody has to decode it. Fashion appears in 2,727 business names founders created on LOGO.com, more than clothing and apparel combined, so the word still carries. Steal the recipe: your category word plus a direction word.

Street Style

The top pick among founders searching for streetwear names on LOGO.com. Two blunt syllables that read the same on a hang tag and a hoodie back. Street appears in more than 700 business names founders created on the platform. Steal the recipe: where the clothes are worn plus what they are.

Luxowave Atelier

A made up first word next to a real workshop word, which is how a small label buys credibility without buying heritage. Atelier shows up in 433 business names created on LOGO.com, well ahead of couture and vogue. Steal the recipe: an invented word plus a craft word that people already trust.

Chic Threads

It rhymes with nothing and sticks to everything. Threads is the rare plural that holds its own, appearing in 334 business names founders created on LOGO.com against roughly 345 for the singular. Steal the recipe: one attitude word plus the material word for clothes.

Style Haven

Second most selected clothing name on our generator. Haven promises a place to land, which is exactly what a shopper wants from a boutique. Steal the recipe: a category word plus a shelter word.

Velvet Vogue

Alliteration doing the heavy lifting, and velvet appears in 325 business names founders created on LOGO.com. A texture word in front of a fashion word reads expensive without saying expensive. Steal the recipe: a fabric you can feel plus a word for taste.

Vogue Vault

The most selected name among founders searching for fashion names on our generator. Vault suggests a curated stock rather than a warehouse. Steal the recipe: a style word plus a word for where the good pieces are kept.

Aura Apparel

Soft, wide, and easy to say in any accent, which matters when your customers find you through a phone. Apparel appears in 423 business names created on LOGO.com and it ages better than trend words. Steal the recipe: an intangible word plus the plainest category word you have.

StyleNest

One compound word, no space, no punctuation, which makes the handle and the domain far easier to claim. Nest is a shelter word, and shelter words test well for clothing stores. Steal the recipe: category word fused to a home word.

Kingsley Woolens

A surname next to a fabric, which is the oldest garment naming formula there is. It works because it implies a workshop with a history even when you started last month. Steal the recipe: a family sounding name plus the fibre you actually use.

Barrow & Finch

Two names joined by an ampersand, which founders reach for because it signals a partnership and a point of view. Nothing here explains the product, and that is the point for a label that wants room to grow. Steal the recipe: two short surnames, one ampersand, nothing else.

Style Sphere

Third most selected clothing name on our generator. Sphere gives the brand scale without naming a single garment. Steal the recipe: category word plus a shape word that suggests range.

Notice the pattern: one concrete word, one word that sets a mood, and nothing that boxes you into a single product. When you have your own shortlist, run it through the clothing brand name generator to check the domain before you order the labels.

The Top 9 Words Founders Use In Clothing Brand Names

Brand

It takes 56.9% of the top nine, more than the other eight put together. Founders describing clothes on LOGO.com almost always say brand rather than shop, label, or line, so the word is doing identity work, not retail work.

Store

14.7%, the only retail word to make the nine. It signals a physical rail and a checkout, which is a different business from a label.

Women

7.7%, and comfortably ahead of men. Womenswear is the single biggest customer segment founders describe on our generator.

Streetwear

4.5%. Streetwear was also chosen as a business industry more than 600 times on LOGO.com this past year, so the demand shows up in both places.

Vintage

4.2%. It covers curated resale, deadstock, and reproduction, which is why it survives while other trend words fade.

Men

4.2%, level with vintage. Menswear names lean plainer, and the data agrees, since founders describing men's clothing use fewer decorative words.

Boutique

3.2%. Boutique businesses were chosen as an industry more than 3,700 times on LOGO.com, and the word does double duty as a category and a size signal.

Luxury

2.4%. Small share, big intent. The founders who say it almost never also say store.

Kids

2.1%. Baby clothing and kids clothing draw nearly identical industry selection counts on LOGO.com, so this corner is bigger than its share of the words suggests.

Don't get stuck with a forgettable clothing brand name

Your name goes on the neck label, the hang tag, the poly mailer, the shop front, and every mirror selfie a customer posts. Make sure it checks these boxes.

  1. Easy to Say

If a customer cannot say it back after hearing it once, they cannot recommend it. Say it out loud before you say it in a font.

  2. Easy to Remember

The clothing names founders pick most are two words and both of them are ordinary. Vivid beats clever every time.

  3. Easy to Search

Shoppers will look you up on Instagram and Google before they buy. Avoid a name buried under a national retailer or a song title.

  4. Easy to Own

Check the domain, the social handles, and the trademark register before you print a single label. Our generator shows domain availability on every name.

  5. Easy to Grow

A name tied to one garment or one gender can box you in the moment you add a second product. Pick something that survives your next drop.

How to name a clothing brand, from first sketch to first drop

A clothing brand name has to work in three places at once: woven into a neck label the size of a stamp, spoken out loud in a shop, and typed into a search bar by someone who half remembers it. LOGO.com data shows founders ran 399,191 business name searches on our generator in the past year and selected 91,985 names, and nearly 9,000 of those searches described a clothing business. Here is what all that naming activity teaches.

Start with the customer, not the thesaurus

The clothing names that survive describe someone rather than something. Who wears this, where do they wear it, and what do they want people to assume about them. The data backs it. In name searches on our generator, the word founders pair with clothing most often is brand, taking 56.9% of the top nine words, well ahead of store at 14.7%. Founders are not naming a shop, they are naming an identity, and the name has to carry a point of view before it carries a product. Pick the customer first and the words narrow themselves.

The three name styles that work for clothing

First, the descriptive name: category plus place or feature, like Northgate Apparel or Threadline Store. It tells people exactly what you sell and it wins in local and marketplace search. Second, the heritage name: a surname plus a fabric or a craft word, like Kingsley Woolens or Barrow & Finch, which buys you the look of a workshop with a history. Third, the mood name: two atmosphere words like Velvet Vogue or Concrete Bloom that sell a feeling instead of a garment. Founders lean into mood more than they admit. Fashion appears in 2,727 business names created on LOGO.com this past year, more than clothing and apparel combined, and bloom appears in more than 1,100, over double couture, vogue, and denim put together.

Test it in the wild

Say the name at the volume of a busy shop floor, because that is the only volume it will ever be said at. Then write it out at neck label size and see whether it still reads. Then search it on Instagram, TikTok, and Google with your category attached, because clothing names collide constantly and a handle you cannot claim is a name you cannot use. One more test that most founders skip: check the plural. On our generator, thread and threads run almost level at roughly 345 and 334 business names created, which is unusual, and it means a shopper genuinely might type either one.

Lock it down before you print labels

Check the domain first, it is the quickest signal that a name is ownable, and our clothing brand name generator shows availability live. Then check your national business registry and the trademark database in every market you plan to ship to, since clothing is one of the most crowded trademark classes there is. When it clears, register the domain, claim the handles, and put the logo maker to work on the neck label and the hang tag. If you need a line for the bio, the slogan generator is free, and everything links back to your business name generator brand kit. Opening a bar alongside the shop? The bar name generator covers that. Serving food? Try the restaurant name generator. Growing your own fibre or running a farm shop? The farm name generator fits. Teaching sewing or design? The school name generator handles that side.

Methodology: data in this article comes from anonymized, aggregated LOGO.com product usage between July 2025 and July 2026, including 399,191 name generator searches. Clothing figures reflect searches where founders described a clothing business. Industry figures count industry selections on LOGO.com, which are events, not unique people. Name counts reflect words appearing in business names founders created over the same period, matched as substrings, and terms whose substrings collide with unrelated words were excluded rather than published. The definite article share uses the string "the " with a trailing space so that theme, theatre, and their are not counted. The nine most used words are reported as shares of the 6,640 mentions those nine words carry between them. Source: LOGO.com first party product data, July 2026.

"I have never attempted developing a logo or other marketing products, and am no expert at navigating new computer software. That being said, I not only found the software easy to navigate and learn, but the end product was more than I had hoped for. The help team at logo.com was highly responsive and willing to help with any questions I had in a clear and rapid manner. I am very pleased with the team at logo.com and the products I created. I highly recommend their service!"

"LOGO.com is an amazing resource. It helped me create a professional-looking logo for my business that received more praise than logos I've paid designers to create for me in the past. The site is very easy to use, walks you through every step, and gives you control over the entire creation process."
