What makes these 12 painting name ideas work for businesses

Every name below was generated on LOGO.com and picked by a real founder. Here is why each one earns its keep, and the pattern you can steal for your own crew.

Hue Haven

Two soft words for a job customers find stressful, and that mismatch is the whole idea. Color turns up in 218 business names founders created on LOGO.com once Colorado is stripped out, so the color family is busy, and hue is the quiet corner of it. Steal the recipe: pick the rarer synonym of the obvious word and you get the same meaning with none of the competition.

ColorCrafters

One closed compound that says both what you use and how carefully you use it. Palette sits in just 48 business names created on LOGO.com, which is a reminder that the studio words are far less used than the trade words. Steal the recipe: a craft word behind your material word tells a customer the finish will be neat.

Sas Spraylab

Lab is doing something clever here. It promises controlled conditions for a job most people associate with dust sheets and mess, and spray narrows you to the equipment that does the biggest rooms fastest. Steal the recipe: borrow a word from a tidier industry and let it raise the expectation of yours.

Ladder & Layer Leicester

Two tools of the trade and a city, which is the oldest and most reliable local formula there is. Layer is the honest word for what painting actually is, and putting the town in makes you findable the moment somebody searches with a place name attached. Steal the recipe: your city is free distinctiveness and no competitor outside it can take it from you.

PaintPulse

Paint appears in 524 business names founders created on LOGO.com this past year, so the first half is doing no work at all and the second half is doing everything. Pulse is energy, speed and a heartbeat all at once. Steal the recipe: when your first word is unavoidable, spend your whole budget on the second one.

Prime & Paint

The two steps of the job in the right order, which quietly tells a customer you do the preparation properly. It is also the shortest possible answer to what do you do. Steal the recipe: naming your process is a way of promising it without making a claim you have to defend.

Bradley Paint Co

A surname, the trade, and Co. It is the most conventional name in the twelve and it is exactly right for the customer who is letting a stranger into an empty house for three days. Steal the recipe: conventional is not boring when the sale depends on trust.

FreshCoats Co

Coat is the trade word for a layer and the customer word for a new start, which is a rare piece of luck. It appears in only 63 business names created on LOGO.com once coating is removed, so it is far more available than it should be. Steal the recipe: look for the word that means one thing to you and something warmer to them.

NextGen Paint Winnipeg

Three parts, and every one of them is a filter. NextGen says modern methods, Paint says the trade, Winnipeg says which phone book. It is long, but a long name is fine when it is only ever read rather than said. Steal the recipe: if your customers find you by searching rather than by asking, write the name for the search box.

Luxe Painters

One word of positioning and one word of trade, and the positioning word does the pricing conversation for you before you arrive. Gloss appears in 95 business names created on LOGO.com, so even the premium finish words are barely touched. Steal the recipe: if you charge more than the crew down the road, say so in the name and stop apologizing for the quote.

Borderline Brushes

A pun on cutting in, which is the skill every painter is actually judged on. Brush turns up in 89 business names created on LOGO.com once paintbrush is removed, making it rarer than color and far rarer than paint. Steal the recipe: name the hardest part of the job and you sound like somebody who has done it.

Riff Cabinet Renew

The only name in the twelve that names one job and nothing else, and cabinet was selected as part of a business industry 523 times on LOGO.com this past year. Cabinet refinishing is the highest margin work in painting and the customers searching for it know exactly what they want. Steal the recipe: a narrow name wins a narrow search, and narrow searches convert.

Twelve names will never cover every kind of painting business. Put your own services, your city or a word you like into the painting name generator above and you will have twenty more in a few seconds, each with a live domain check and a free logo preview.

The Top 9 Words Founders Use In Painting Names

Company

Company is the word founders reach for most, appearing in 101 of the name searches that mention paint on LOGO.com this past year. These nine counts overlap, because one search can carry several of the words at once, and no percentage is quoted from this pool because it still holds face painting and art searches.

Decor

86 mentions, counting decorating. It is the word this trade uses about itself outside North America and it reads warmer than contractor anywhere.

Home

65 mentions. Home narrows you to residential work on purpose and softens a trade that otherwise sounds like scaffolding.

Wall

50 mentions. The most literal noun available. It works because a wall is the one thing every single customer of yours is looking at.

Interior

45 mentions, more than double exterior. Founders name the inside work even though the outside work is what neighbors see.

House

43 mentions. House is blunter than home and reads as a job rather than a feeling, which suits crews who work for builders.

Color

40 mentions. The most emotional word in the set and the one that opens a conversation about choosing rather than about price.

Service

40 mentions, level with color. Service is the promise that somebody answers the phone, which in a trade of no shows is worth more than any finish claim.

Exterior

20 mentions. Under half the count for interior, which is surprising given exterior work is where the bigger tickets are.

Don't get stuck with a forgettable painting name

Your name goes on the van, the quote, the dust sheet, the yard sign and the before and after photo that wins you the house across the road. Make sure it checks these boxes.

  1. Easy to Say

Most of this work arrives as one neighbor telling another who painted the hallway. If the name is a mouthful, the recommendation turns into a description and a description cannot be looked up.

  2. Easy to Remember

A yard sign gets three seconds from a passing car and a van door gets less. Short, concrete words survive that. Clever spellings do not.

  3. Easy to Search

Customers find you on Maps and in reviews before they call. Avoid a name shared with an art studio, a paint shop or a decorating retailer in the same town, because you will spend years explaining which one you are.

  4. Easy to Own

Check the domain, the handles, your state registry, your contractor license and the trademark register before you letter a van. Our generator shows domain availability on every name it serves.

  5. Easy to Grow

A name built around interiors gets awkward the day you add exteriors, cabinets, decks or commercial contracts. Pick something that survives your second crew.

500+ Painting Business Name Ideas by Service Type

According to LOGO.com data, painting was chosen as an exact business industry match 1,355 times this past year. The exact count is used here rather than every selection containing the word paint, because paint on its own also picks up paintball, face painting, art classes and car respraying, none of which involve a ladder. The lists below are grouped by the work founders actually take on, so find your main service first and borrow the patterns that fit.

Painting contractor names

Painting and decorating together account for 979 industry selections on LOGO.com this past year, which is almost every decorating selection on the platform. Contractor names sit at the plainest end of the trade, and they are the ones a builder trusts on a schedule.

Painter and family names

Painter was chosen as part of a business industry 621 times on LOGO.com this past year, and it is the word a homeowner types when they want a person rather than a firm. Putting a real name in front of it answers the only question that matters when you are letting a stranger into an empty house.

Interior painting names

Tint sits in 105 business names created on LOGO.com this past year, which is more than roller and palette combined and a sign that founders like the vocabulary of choosing color better than the vocabulary of applying it. Interiors are where that conversation happens.

Exterior and house painting names

House painting is named explicitly in 81 industry selections on LOGO.com this past year, a small count for the most visible work this trade does. An exterior job is a billboard on a street for a decade, so the name on the yard sign is worth thinking about.

What makes LOGO.com the best Painting Business Name Generator

Built from real data

Every suggestion is shaped by the words founders actually chose for painting and decorating businesses on LOGO.com this past year.

Made for painting businesses

Tell it you do interior repaints or exterior work for builders and it names that, not a generic small business.

A fit score on every name

A quick score shows how well each name matches the business you described, so you can skim instead of agonize.

Every name explains itself

Each option comes with a line on why it works, which is what you need when you try three of them out loud on a customer.

A tagline with every name

Every name arrives with a short line underneath it, ready for your van and the yard sign you leave outside for a week.

Style tags at a glance

Names are tagged plain, premium, family or modern, so you can see instantly whether one matches the jobs you want.

20 names per round

One sentence about your business gives you twenty options, enough to spot a direction without staring at a blank page.

More like this

Found one that nearly works? Ask for more in the same direction and the generator narrows in instead of starting over.

Favorites that follow you

Star the names you like and they stay in your list while you keep generating, so nothing good gets lost between rounds.

Compare mode

Put your shortlist side by side and read the names the way a homeowner comparing three quotes will.

Live domain availability

Every name is checked against real domains as it appears, so you never fall for one you cannot book.

Domain prices upfront

You see what the domain costs before you get attached to the name, not three screens later.

Instant logo previews

Each name comes with a logo already drawn, so you can tell in a second whether it works on a van door.

See it on a website

Preview the name on a real homepage layout, free estimate button and all, before you commit to it.

See it on a business card

This trade still runs on cards left on a kitchen counter at the end of a quote, so check how the name sits on one.

See it on social

See the name as a profile and a post, which matters here because before and after photos are the whole marketing plan.

Four naming styles

Switch between descriptive, invented, compound and evocative names depending on whether you want clarity or character.

A length slider

Slide from one short word to a full company name and watch the suggestions change shape as you go.

An abstractness slider

Choose how literal you want to be, from Riverside House Painting at one end to something like Hue Haven at the other.

A tone slider

Move between friendly and professional until the names sound like the person who actually turns up on Monday.

Category control

Point it at interiors, exteriors, cabinets, spray work, decorating or commercial contracts and the whole set of names moves with you.

Free to use

Generate as many rounds of painting names as you like without paying and without creating an account first.

A free logo included

Pick a name and the matching logo is yours, ready for your van, your shirts and your yard signs.

The whole brand in one place

Name, logo, domain and brand kit all come out of the same tool, so your first customer sees one consistent business.

How to name a painting business, from your first room to your first crew

A painting name has to work on a van, on a quote and in a neighbor's mouth. Most of this trade grows by one homeowner telling another who did the hallway, which means the name has to survive being repeated by somebody who only heard it once. Founders ran 379,460 business name searches on our generator this past year and selected 86,582 of the names it served, and 988 of those searches named painting outright. Here is what all that naming activity teaches about naming a crew of your own.

Start from the surface, not the thesaurus

Write down what you actually paint before you write a single name. Interior repaints for homeowners is a different business to exteriors for a developer, and cabinet refinishing is a third one again. The safest starting point is the work that pays best today, with a second word wide enough to carry whatever you add next, because almost everybody in this trade adds cabinets, decks or commercial contracts eventually.

Stay on the right side of the art line

This is the naming trap unique to painting, and it is the reason this page counts exact wording rather than every match. Canvas, palette, studio, artist and brush all belong to fine art as much as they belong to you, and a name built from them will bring you questions about commissions and paint and sip nights for years. Put a building word somewhere in the name. Wall, house, home, interior, exterior and trim all do the job in one word.

Test it in the wild before you commit

Say it to a neighbor and see whether they can repeat it back. Print it at yard sign size and look at it from across a road. Search it on Maps and see who else is working the same streets, and search it alongside the words art and studio to see what you are competing with. If it survives all three, it will survive a van wrap.

Lock it down, then build the brand around it

Check the domain first, because it is the fastest proof a name is genuinely ownable, and our business name generator shows availability live on every option it serves. Then clear your state business registry, your contractor license, the federal trademark database and the handles on the platforms your customers use. When the name clears, register the domain, claim the handles, and put the logo maker to work on your van, your shirts and your yard signs. If you want a line for the website header, the slogan generator is free too.

Methodology: data in this article comes from anonymized, aggregated LOGO.com product usage between 7 September 2025 and 7 September 2026. Painting figures use exact wording rather than every industry selection containing the word paint, because that raw figure of 5,937 sweeps in paintball at 67 selections, face painting at 60, and smaller counts for art painting, oil painting, canvas painting, diamond painting and car respraying. The raw painting figure of 3,735 is not quoted anywhere on this page for the same reason. Color figures are stated after removing Colorado, brush after removing paintbrush, coat after removing coating, fresh after removing refresh, craft after removing aircraft and crew after removing screw. The word matte was measured and then set aside, because it sits inside matter and material. Word counts are the number of name searches containing paint that also contain each word, and those counts overlap, because one search can contain several of the words at once. No percentage is quoted from that pool at all, because it still carries face painting and art searches and is therefore not a clean denominator. Industry figures count industry selections, which are events rather than unique people. The founder pick list is not ranked, because the only name with a real lead in the pool was excluded as a plastering business rather than a painting one, and nothing that survived the filter was chosen more than twice. Icon preference was measured and then dropped, because 320 Noun Project icon changes came from only 17 people. Source: LOGO.com first party product data, September 2026.

"I have never attempted developing a logo or other marketing products, and am no expert at navigating new computer software. That being said, I not only found the software easy to navigate and learn, but the end product was more than I had hoped for. The help team at logo.com was highly responsive and willing to help with any questions I had in a clear and rapid manner. I am very pleased with the team at logo.com and the products I created. I highly recommend their service!"

"LOGO.com is an amazing resource. It helped me create a professional-looking logo for my business that received more praise than logos I've paid designers to create for me in the past. The site is very easy to use, walks you through every step, and gives you control over the entire creation process."
