In this article, we’ll go through how to register a custom business domain name, go through the steps to connect it to your website, and explore some best practices when registering a domain name. If you already have a domain from another provider, please skip to the next section on connecting it to your LOGO website.
If you prefer to publish your website with a 'hi.link' domain, please follow this guide.
To access domains:
You’ll notice your business name is already populated in the search bar. Simply click 'Search' or add an alternative name if you're considering a domain different from your business name.
Explore the available domain names related to your business. While .com is often the preferred Top-Level Domain (TLD), you may find other extensions relevant to your business if .com is unavailable. You can sort the available domain name options by TLD or popularity.
In our example of 'The Cake Factory', we’ve selected thecakefactory.com and proceeded to the next step by clicking 'Select.'
You'll then have the option to add other TLDs along with .com to prevent others from registering them. You can register these domain names and redirect them to your main website. While not mandatory, securing your domain name on multiple TLDs can help secure your business name for the future.
Add any extra domain names to the cart (optional) or click 'Continue.'
Confirm all details and proceed by clicking 'Continue.'
Next, enter your information and click 'Continue.' This will lead you to the checkout page where you can input your payment details to complete the registration.
Step 1: Select One Page Site from your LOGO Dashboard. Under Your One Page Sites, select the three dots menu, and then select 'Connect Custom Domain'
Step 2: You’ll see a window where you can either ‘Connect A Custom Domain With LOGO.com’ or if you already have a domain registered elsewhere, select ‘I Have A Domain Name From Another Platform.’
Step 3: If you are using a LOGO.com domain, select which of your domains you'd like to add from the choices. You'll get a domain verification message - click Finish and you're done!
Step 4: If you are using a domain name that’s not registered on LOGO.com, connecting it will require you to access your domain's DNS settings. Below are a list of common domain registrars and their link to DNS instructions:
Enter your domain, and click Continue.
Step 5: Once you have access to your DNS setting, enter the following details in the windows that come up on your screen. To avoid typos, select ‘Copy’ to copy the Name and Value, and paste it directly into the DNS record.
Step 6: The final step would be to forward your domain so that you can use it without the “www.” Copy the domain and add that as a forwarded domain in your DNS settings.
Once you complete these steps, your domain should work with your new website!
Congratulations on making consistent progress towards your business dream. With your website and domain name ready, we’ll show you how to activate your business email essentials.
