About

Sacred Songs of the Land is a mobile Indigenous youth music camp designed to bring culturally grounded, community-based music programming directly to First Nations and urban Indigenous youth. Facilitated by Program Director Jared Sowan with support from local Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members, the program empowers youth through songwriting, recording, performance, and cultural connection. The camp supports Indigenous youth in developing their voices, building confidence, and expressing their stories through original music. By combining artistic mentorship with cultural guidance, the program creates a space where youth can explore identity, creativity, and self-expression in ways that honour both tradition and contemporary experience. The program is flexible in delivery, with a two-week format designed to support two youth participants, while also allowing for adaptation based on community needs.
